Watershed Conservancy Preserves

Dr. Fredrick van Nus Preserve
Established in 2011, the Dr. Fredrick van Nus Preserve is 30 hectares/80 acres of rolling hardwood forest and wetlands at the headwaters of Big Carp Creek near Sault Ste. Marie.

Francis Hilb Preserve
Established in 2011, the Francis Hilb Preserve is a rare Lake Superior cranberry fen located on Goulais Bay. The preserve was established in 2011 and is 3.5 hectare/8 acres large.

Gargantua Islands Preserve
This LSWC preserve is comprised of twenty pristine islands off the wilderness coast of Lake Superior Provincial Park. These islands are spiritually significant to First Nations and are an integral part of the coastal ecosystem.
